Prepress Checklist
DOCUMENT
- Your document size should match the intended output size, if you want to print A4 make your artwork A4
- Don’t forget to add bleed if you want to print colour right to the edges of your document. Bleed should be min 3mm
- Leave at least 5mm breathing space between the trim edge of your document and any text
- A hard copy mock up should always be supplied
- Please clearly indicate any special instructions on your artwork and on your supplied hard copy/mock up eg. positions of folds, perforations, die cuts.
IMAGES
- Images must be CMYK not RGB
- The resolution of all Images used in the artwork must be 300 dpi
- Please ensure all images used are collected and included in the artwork sent
- NEVER use images in Jpeg format, please supply Tiff or Eps format
COLOURS
- All 4 colour jobs should be CMYK
- Jobs including spot colours should have all relevant Pantone references clearly stated. Delete any unused colours from your artwork
- Pantones should be specified as either coated or uncoated and not a mixture of both
FILE FORMATS
- The following are the preferred programmes and file formats for supplied artwork:
- Quark Xpress - collected file
- Indesign - collected file
- Freehand - eps
- Illustrator - eps
- Photoshop files at full size & 300 dpi / High resolution pdfs
FONTS
- Please make sure all screen and printer fonts used in your artwork are collected when sending. No forced embolding or italicising. Use the bold or italic within the font family. If sending illustrator files make sure all type is turned to outlines.
